Ever wondered what goes on inside a beehive? Our 2-hour beekeeping experience gives you the rare opportunity to suit up, step into an apiary, and see these fascinating creatures at work. Guided by an expert beekeeper, you’ll discover the hidden world of honeybees and leave with memories (and flavours) you won’t forget.

What to Expect

• Welcome & Introduction – Start with a friendly briefing on bee safety and why bees are so vital to our food and environment.

• Suit Up – We’ll provide protective clothing (Please Bring Wellies) so you can get close to the hive with confidence.

• Hive Exploration – Watch the colony in action, handle frames, spot worker bees, and maybe even find the queen herself.

• Learn by Doing – Understand how nectar becomes honey, how colonies thrive, and how we care for bees sustainably.

• Honey Tasting – End your visit by sampling a variety of our honeys, each with its own seasonal flavour and floral notes.

Practical Info

• Duration: 2 hours Approx, 10am / 1 pm start time depending on session selection

• Location: Our apiary in Hill Farm, Northchurch common, Berkhamsted, HP4 1LS. Parking is available, however please be considerate and share vehicles where possible. You will be spending time on a working farm where machinery is being used.

• Availability: Seasonal – spaces are limited (May to July)

• What to Bring: Wellies and a sense of wonder. Suits and gloves will be provided. Please bare in mind that this experience is held on a working farm, there is an element of walking over rough ground to be mindful of.
